The world's first operational computer, constructed from telephone relays and named after a popular cartoonist who drew "Rube Goldberg" machines (very ornate machinery with many interacting mechanisms). During World War II, Robinson provided the British with a transcription of nearly all significant Nazi coded messages, until it was replaced by Colossus.
